How a bathroom designer can help create the bathroom of your dreams
09/08/2022Bathroom redesign can be both super-exciting and very tricky, as you’re working within space limitations and probably have no-compromise fittings you definitely need in there (think – WC, sink, shower!). But with so much information and inspiration now available online, why should you bother visiting a bathroom showroom? We explain the five top reasons you should visit a showroom before beginning your renovations below.
To see fixtures and fittings up close and ‘in the flesh’
You may be able to discover the materials that a product is made up of online, but there’s no question that it’s much easier to get a feel for the designs you’ve chosen by seeing them in real life. Bathrooms are a sensory experience, so it’s nice to see how your bathroom suite will feel. You’ll be able to answer personal questions for yourself, like ‘does the bathtub feel high quality? Do I like its texture – is it smooth? Is it cold to the touch?’.
You’ll also be able to experience how you interact with them – ‘will this sink basin be comfortable when I bend over to wash my face, or splash me when I spit out my toothpaste?’. These are not the types of questions anyone else can answer for you, so we’d definitely recommend a showroom trip for this point alone.
To get advice from bathroom design experts
As well as all the fittings they stock, showrooms are where you can get advice from bathroom design experts. You know your space, but bathroom designers have the experience to suggest combinations or layouts that you might not have considered, and show you how they could work within your space. They can also introduce you to new products (for example, compact options) which might give you more space to play with.
See the different options
When you see the products you have in mind in person, you can experience them in a tactile way – but also, you can see the colour ways. No, we’re not assuming you’re choosing an avocado bathroom suite here, but the many iterations of white, whilst subtle, can make all the difference to your design overall. It’s also nigh on impossible to correctly gauge colour online.
Directly compare & contrast different collections
Most collections’ brochures are available online now, but it’s priceless to be able to compare them side by side in a showroom. You’ll see the different widths or lengths of a bathtub, for example, how big a wide shower tray is as opposed to a square one, and just whether a compact sink would work for your needs. Being able to see many iterations of the same thing at once, for example, twenty sinks, helps you see what makes something special, and what is considered the ballpark or ‘average’. It’s a great comparison mechanism and may help you assess the USPs of your product.
Meet the team
If you’re getting a bathroom installed, visiting a showroom is also a brilliant opportunity to meet the team. Do the staff seem personable? Do they welcome you, and helpfully answer all of your questions? Do they show each other respect? These are all signs of a good team; crucial when you’re inviting people into a room inside your home for a period of time.
